As is well known, Amritsar is a sacred city of the Gurus, and is the home of Sikh Art. Our centuries old culture has manifested itself in various ever fresh shapes and forms through the medium of painting. The late Artist G. S. Sohan Singh worked hard, and raised to super-heights this cultural heritage passed on to the masses from generations to generations. He derived for the pursuit of his noble Art works of outstanding merit from his father, the Late Bhai Gian Singh ‘Naqqash’, Master Artist of the Sikh School of Painting as well as the devotional artist of the Golden Temple, Amritsar. In actual fact, G. S. Sohan Singh devoted his entire life to the cause of Art, like an ardent, selfless Rishi of ancient times.
The Sikh cultural heritage is unfortunately vanishing from the Gurdwaras, Deories, Sarais, Havelis, Dharamshalas and Akharas. Time has therefore come for re-tracing and collecting the neglected bits of this heritage, including the lost, glorious Art pieces, historical and ancient Art-Books and other Art items, and bringing and displaying them at one prominent place / Museum to be visited by the masses in large numbers, to enable them to “know themselves” through this panorama of exhibition of glorious human endeavor.

SURINDER SINGH (Graphic Artist & Micro-surgical Photographer) established G.S. SOHAN SINGH ARTIST MEMORIAL TRUST in the memory of his father, LATE G.S. SOHAN SINGH, a renowned artist of 20th century and his grandfather, BHAI GIAN SINGH “NAQQASH”, a versatile fresco artist of The Golden Temple, Amritsar. His endeavour was the result of his love, respect and dedication to the great artistic heritage of his ancestors. And his own valuable experience in the field of photography, printing and graphic technology helped him to take this trust to the paramount. He has organised various exhibitions of paintings, reproductions, antique Sikh art in India as well as in United Kingdom. He has worked with several universities, religious institutions and even surgeons due to his expertise. He has also been honored LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD by INDIAN ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS in 2015. He has done everything possible to make this rich art and heritage accessible to all the art lovers worldwide.

HARDEEP SINGH (Calligrapher – Graphic Artist) is planning & designing all the publication done so far including the Limited Edition Photobooks. His job is to reproduce the paintings to best of its quality. He is also a Calligrapher who is creating high quality Handwritten Gurbani Calligraphy.
“G. S. Sohan Singh Artist Memorial Trust” has been formulated for the preservation and presentation of his major contribution to our cultural heritage. To start off, Trust is collecting Art works, related the Hari-Mandir Sahib, and Art works of the old Masters as well as contemporary Artists. Trust is also planning to publish Art Books relating to the Sikh School of Art for the next generations. Restoration of Old Paintings also done for the cause of Art.
